Beirut: Lebanon's Health Ministry reported Tuesday that the death toll from ongoing Israeli strikes on the country has risen to 1,072, with 2,966 people wounded since March 2.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry's daily report revealed that 33 people were killed, and 90 others were wounded in the past 24 hours alone.
Earlier statements from the ministry indicated that at least 17 people were killed and 20 others injured on Tuesday in Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting residential buildings and areas across Lebanon. An Israeli strike on the town of Bashamoun in the Aley district of Mount Lebanon resulted in two deaths and five injuries.
The NNA reported further destruction as Israeli warplanes demolished a house in the town of Zefta in Nabatieh district, injuring two people. Meanwhile, clashes erupted between Hezbollah members and Israeli forces in the town of Qawzah in the Bint Jbeil district, following an attempted incursion supported by artillery and tank fire that also targeted Hanine.
Since late Monday, seven airstrikes have targeted Beirut's southern suburbs, including areas such as Burj al-Barajneh and Kafaat. These actions follow an announcement by Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee regarding attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure.
The escalation is part of a broader regional conflict involving US-Israeli military operations against Iran and retaliatory actions by Tehran, including missile and drone strikes on Israel and US interests in the region.
