Ankara: Intercepted dozens of ballistic missiles and drones from Iran on Tuesday as Tehran intensified its retaliatory strikes in response to ongoing US-Israeli attacks amid escalating regional tensions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Saudi Defense Ministry reported that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 33 drones targeting the Eastern Province. Similarly, the United Arab Emirates confirmed the successful interception of five ballistic missiles and 17 drones on Tuesday.

A statement by the UAE Defense Ministry detailed that their air defenses have intercepted a total of 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,806 drones since February 28. The Iranian attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and six civilians of various nationalities, with 161 others injured.

The Kuwaiti Defense Ministry reported detecting 17 ballistic missiles and 13 drones originating from Iran on Tuesday. Of these, 13 missiles and 10 drones were intercepted and destroyed, while four missiles and three drones fell outside the threat area, causing no injuries. The debris from the intercepted projectiles caused limited material damage, affecting some homes and power lines.

In Bahrain, the Interior Ministry activated sirens twice since dawn Tuesday, urging residents to seek shelter. They reported that civil defense teams extinguished a fire at a facility following an Iranian attack but did not provide further details.

The regional escalation has continued since the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on February 28, with casualties reportedly exceeding 1,340 people. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
