Abu dhabi: Two people were killed and three others injured when debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, authorities said Thursday. The incident occurred on Sweihan Road after air defense systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile, as reported by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

According to Anadolu Agency, the falling shrapnel resulted in the deaths of two unidentified individuals and injuries to three others. The debris also caused damage to several vehicles. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region following a joint offensive by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28, which has resulted in over 1,340 fatalities, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military installations. These strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
