Beirut: The Israeli military has reported the death of a soldier in southern Lebanon combat operations. The soldier, Ori Greenberg, aged 21, was part of the Golani Brigade's reconnaissance unit and lost his life during the fighting. The military confirmed that his family has been notified.

According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement comes after a statement from the military noting that a soldier was injured on Wednesday due to mortar fire originating from Lebanon, targeting Israeli forces. This incident is part of a larger conflict, as Israel has intensified its military actions in Lebanon, including airstrikes and a ground offensive, following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.

Lebanese authorities have reported significant casualties due to the ongoing conflict, with at least 1,094 people killed and 3,119 injured as a result of Israeli military actions. The escalation in violence is set against the backdrop of a joint US-Israeli offensive against Iran that began on February 28, resulting in over 1,340 deaths.

Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, as well as targets in Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries. Iran has stated that these strikes are intended to target US military assets in the region.
