Gaza city: Two Palestinian brothers were killed and three others injured on Saturday in an Israeli drone strike and gunfire in the Shejaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, marking a new violation of a ceasefire deal that has been in effect since last October.
According to Anadolu Agency, an Israeli drone carried out a strike on the Al-Shamaa area of the Shejaiya neighborhood, as reported by eyewitnesses. In a separate incident, three Palestinians were injured by gunfire targeting tents of displaced people in various parts of the same neighborhood.
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli army launched airstrikes and artillery shelling on various parts of the Gaza Strip. Despite the ceasefire in place since October 10, Israeli forces have carried out daily violations, resulting in the deaths of 691 people and injuries to 1,876 others as of March 18, as per Health Ministry data.
The conflict escalated when Israel launched a war on Gaza in October 2023, which led to the deaths of more than 72,000 Palestinians, injuries to around 172,000 others, and the devastation of about 90% of the region’s civilian infrastructure.
