Ankara: Trkiye announced its unwavering commitment to continue fulfilling its responsibilities at both regional and global levels to combat the threat of mines. This pledge is guided by a humanitarian approach, as stated by the Foreign Ministry of Trkiye.
According to Anadolu Agency, the statement was released in observance of the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, designated by the UN General Assembly. The ministry emphasized that mines and unexploded ordnance pose long-term threats to civilian lives, persisting even after conflicts have ended.
Trkiye reiterated its support for international cooperation mechanisms under the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel mines. The country is actively involved through the Turkish National Mine Action Center to contribute effectively to global efforts in this domain.
