Miami: American Airlines said Thursday it is continuing to work closely with US and Venezuelan regulators to reinstate nonstop service between the United States and Venezuela.

According to Anadolu Agency, when all government approvals and security checks are complete, American plans to offer daily nonstop service between Miami (MIA) and Caracas, Venezuela (CCS), with Embraer 175 aircraft starting as soon as April 30. The route will be operated by Envoy Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of American.

American was the first airline to announce plans to restart service to Venezuela, and the progress made with both governments has been encouraging, said Executive Vice President of American Eagle, Corporate Real Estate and Government Affairs, Nate Gatten.

American started operating in Venezuela in 1987 and served as the largest US airline in the country before suspending service in 2019, according to the statement.
