Tehran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) stated on Sunday that US President Donald Trump is at a crossroads, needing to decide between engaging in what has been termed as an "impossible" war or negotiating a "bad deal" with Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the IRGC's intelligence department communicated through a post on the US social media platform X, highlighting that Tehran has issued a deadline to the US military to cease its blockade of Iranian ports. The message further noted that Europe, China, and Russia are increasingly critical of Washington's actions.

"There is only one way to read this: Trump must choose between 'an impossible military operation or a bad deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran,'" the post elaborated, emphasizing the constrained options available to the US administration.

The backdrop to this ultimatum involves a series of military and diplomatic events. On February 28, the US and Israel conducted strikes against Iran, prompting retaliatory actions from Tehran against Israel and US allies in the Gulf region, alongside the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Since April 13, the US has implemented a naval blockade aimed at curbing Iranian maritime activities in this crucial waterway.

Efforts to defuse tensions included a two-week ceasefire announced on April 8, mediated by Pakistan, and subsequent direct talks in Islamabad on April 11. However, these discussions failed to yield a sustainable truce. In response to a request from Pakistan, President Trump extended the ceasefire without establishing a new deadline, leaving the situation in a precarious balance.
