Us states: are launching pilot programs using drones to respond to school shootings, according to a news report.

According to Anadolu Agency, Florida has allocated $557,000 to deploy the systems in Broward, Leon, and Volusia counties, with Deltona High School set to activate the first drones on Friday. In a similar effort, Georgia has approved $550,000 for a program in five high schools, which are yet to be selected.

Campus Guardian Angel CEO Justin Marston shared insights with The Center Square, stating, "Georgia went from first conversations to funding a pilot through the legislature in maybe 120 days." The Texas-based company's drones employ non-lethal measures such as sirens, strobe lights, and pepper spray to incapacitate suspects, and they can be operated remotely using school camera systems.

The pilot programs are set to run for a year at an approximate cost of $8 per student. Marston also noted growing interest in other states and mentioned potential developments in Texas next year.
