China: China on Monday warned Germany against 'sending wrong signals' to 'separatist forces' in Taiwan.

According to Anadolu Agency, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning emphasized during a press briefing in Beijing that "there is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory." This statement was made in response to reports regarding a cross-party delegation from Germany visiting Taipei. One of the German representatives reportedly described Taiwan as an "important partner for Germany," prompting China's concern.

Taiwan has maintained its stance on independence since 1949. Mao Ning reiterated China's firm opposition to any official interactions between Taiwan and countries with diplomatic ties to China. She stressed that the one-China principle is a well-recognized norm in international relations and forms the political foundation of China-Germany relations.

Mao urged German officials to adhere to the one-China principle and to refrain from sending misleading signals to Taiwan independence separatist forces. She warned that Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party's attempts to seek external support for their independence agenda would ultimately fail. The German delegation is scheduled to meet Taiwanese leader William Lai Ching-te on Tuesday and is expected to remain on the island until May 31.
