US Envoy Barrack to Remain ‘Central Interlocutor on Syria, Key Trusted Hand on Iraq’: Rubio

Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday announced that Ambassador Tom Barrack will continue to serve as 'a central interlocutor on Syria, and key trusted hand on Iraq.' This statement reaffirms Barrack's crucial role in US diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency, Rubio emphasized Barrack's importance not only in his capacity as Ambassador to the Republic of Trkiye but also in advancing the strategic cooperation with Syria and initiating work with Iraq's new government. Rubio expressed his confidence in Barrack, highlighting his indispensable role within President Donald Trump's team and confirming that Barrack operates with the full backing of the State Department.

Rubio further stated on Friday that Barrack will maintain a central diplomatic role in managing policies for Syria and Iraq despite the expiration of his formal mandate as special envoy to Syria. He noted Barrack's invaluable contributions as Special Envoy to Syria and confirmed his continued leadership role for the Trump Administration in both Syria and Iraq.
