Beirut: The Israeli army issued an evacuation order on Monday for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs ahead of airstrikes in the Lebanese capital, marking the latest violation of an ongoing ceasefire. In a statement on the US social media company X, military spokesman Avichay Adraee urged residents to leave the area ‘for their own safety.’

According to Anadolu Agency, the order was initiated shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the army to conduct strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Netanyahu stated that the attacks were a reaction to Hezbollah’s “repeated violations” of the ceasefire, which has been in effect since April 17.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reports that Israeli attacks since March 2 have resulted in the deaths of more than 3,400 people across the country, highlighting the severe impact of the ongoing conflict.
