Evian: Italy and Canada have agreed to enhance their collaboration in key areas such as defense, energy, and critical minerals, following a meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the G7 leaders' summit in Evian, France.

According to Anadolu Agency, the leaders reviewed the ongoing implementation of the Italy-Canada action plan aimed at fostering enhanced cooperation. A statement from the Italian government highlighted their commitment to developing a framework agreement that will address strategic issues, including defense, infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, and space.

Prime Minister Meloni expressed her gratitude to Canada for granting Italy priority access to its stockpiles. The meeting also served as a platform for both leaders to discuss pressing international issues. They reiterated their commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, supporting stability in the Middle East, and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with international law.
