Turkish Intel Chief Visits Kirkuk Following Diplomatic Meetings in Baghdad

Kirkuk: The head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, made a significant visit to Iraq's northern city of Kirkuk on Wednesday, following a series of high-level talks in Baghdad. During his visit, Kalin inspected the historic Kirkuk Citadel and paid tribute at the cemetery of Turkish martyrs.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kalin was warmly received at the Kirkuk International Airport by Kirkuk Governor Mohammed Saman Agha, who also leads the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC). The MIT chief's itinerary in Kirkuk included a visit to the ITC headquarters, where he engaged in discussions with Turkmen officials. Additionally, Kalin held talks with Governor Agha at the governor's office, underscoring the importance of the relationship between Trkiye and the Turkmen community in Iraq.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, Kalin conducted a series of high-level diplomatic meetings in Baghdad. He met with Iraqi President Nizar Amidi, Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi, Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan, National Security Adviser Basim al-Badri, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, National Wisdom Movement leader Ammar al-Hakim, Sovereignty Alliance leader Khamis al-Khanjar, and Taqaddum Party leader Mohammed al-Halbousi. The discussions focused on enhancing security and intelligence cooperation between Trkiye and Iraq, reflecting a mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations and addressing shared security concerns.
