Shehbaz Sharif Affirms Strengthened Pakistan-Trkiye Partnership as Mutual Success

Istanbul: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Saturday that Trkiye's achievements are inherently linked to Pakistan's success, emphasizing a commitment to further reinforce the 'unique partnership' between the two nations. He made these remarks during a joint news conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul, after discussions held at the Vahdettin Palace.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sharif expressed gratitude towards Erdogan for his warm reception and hospitality, noting the pleasure of visiting the vibrant city of Istanbul, where historical and modern influences from both the East and the West converge. Quoting Turkish poet Yunus Emre, he highlighted the profound and heartfelt connection between Pakistan and Trkiye.

Sharif acknowledged the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Trkiye, pointing out their shared history, faith, sacrifices, and a sense of brotherhood. He recalled Trkiye's unwavering support during Pakistan's challenging times, including wars and natural disasters, and commended Erdogan's and first lady Emine Erdogan's contributions to flood relief efforts in Pakistan.

The Pakistani Prime Minister highlighted the fruitful discussions with Erdogan, expressing satisfaction with the increasing collaboration in trade, investment, and industrial sectors. They explored strategic measures to harness the full potential of economic cooperation with a mutual goal of achieving $5 billion in bilateral trade.

Sharif reiterated Pakistan's firm stance alongside Trkiye concerning the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and appreciated Trkiye's steadfast support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their pursuit of self-determination.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect, emphasizing the importance of international peace and security. Sharif expressed gratitude for Trkiye's consistent support for Pakistan's regional peace initiatives, which led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum.

Sharif assured Erdogan of Pakistan's dedication to strengthening the partnership, quoting Rumi to illustrate the shared values and solidarity between the people of Pakistan and Trkiye. He emphasized that the agreements reached would translate into tangible benefits, fostering trade, investment, and strategic cooperation for a brighter future.
