Beirut: The Israeli army has escalated its operations in southern Lebanon by demolishing and burning homes, contravening the framework agreement established between Tel Aviv and Beirut. This information was reported by Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) on Monday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ongoing activities include the destruction of homes in the southern neighborhoods of the town of Hadatha by Israeli forces. This follows a significant explosion orchestrated by Israeli forces in the southern city of Bint Jbeil on Sunday.
These actions are taking place despite a ceasefire that has been operative since November 2024 and a US-mediated framework agreement signed on June 26, 2026. This agreement outlines a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from all occupied territories in Lebanon.
Israel has maintained control over several areas in southern Lebanon, with some under occupation for decades and others since the 2023-2024 conflict. During this recent conflict, Israeli military forces advanced more than 10 kilometers (6 miles) into Lebanese territory.
