Moscow: Russia announced on Monday that it would deliver an 'appropriate response' to the recent sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom and the European Union concerning alleged Russian cyber and hybrid operations throughout Europe.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry conveyed to state news agency RIA that Moscow is preparing a response to the expanded sanctions issued by London and Brussels. Earlier, the UK Foreign Office had declared new sanctions, implemented in conjunction with the EU, aimed at countering the Russian state's ongoing efforts to disrupt and divide European nations.
The UK government specified that these sanctions are directed at Russian state entities and criminal networks accused of orchestrating cyber-attacks, election interference, and disseminating harmful anti-Ukraine narratives across Europe. A total of 24 individuals and entities, allegedly involved in cyber and hybrid operations and purportedly connected to Russian intelligence, are the focus of these sanctions.
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper emphasized Britain's commitment to addressing such activities, stating that the UK, alongside its partners, will continue to expose these behaviors, strengthen resilience, and respond to the hybrid threats posed by Russia. She reiterated that these measures would not deter the UK from supporting Ukraine.
