Sanaa: The Yemeni army announced on Wednesday evening that it had successfully repelled a Houthi attack targeting military positions in the Al-Jawf province, located in northern Yemen.
According to Anadolu Agency, the assault by the Houthis focused on military positions along the Qanaw front in the eastern part of Al-Jawf province. Government forces reportedly inflicted both casualties and equipment losses on the Houthi fighters, ultimately forcing them to retreat.
Al-Jawf province, which borders southern Saudi Arabia, is a region marked by a division of control between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis. As of now, there has been no statement from the Houthis regarding the army's announcement.
In a related development on Monday, the Yemeni government reported its forces had targeted a runway at Sanaa International Airport. This action followed the Houthis' alleged prevention of Yemeni flights from landing and the unauthorized landing of an Iranian plane, which the government described as a violation of Yemeni sovereignty.
In response, the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of conducting the attack and launched a missile strike against Saudi territory, ending a period of relative calm. There has been no official comment from Saudi Arabia regarding the Houthi claims.
