Nairobi: Five individuals who went missing after a passenger boat sank off the coast of South Sulawesi in Indonesia have been found alive after enduring four days at sea.

According to Anadolu Agency, the survivors were rescued near Matallang Island on Saturday after being discovered by a passing fishing vessel. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, resulted in at least one fatality and left another 24 people missing. The survivors managed to stay afloat by clinging onto a fish aggregating device commonly used by local fishermen.

The rescued individuals received medical attention and underwent further evaluation following their ordeal. Efforts to locate the remaining missing passengers are ongoing, with additional vessels and personnel deployed to widen the search area, as reported by local media.
