Accra: Israeli occupiers attacked an Armenian church in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday, collectively spitting at its entrance and throwing stones, according to a Palestinian official body. The Jerusalem governorate reported in a brief statement that a group of occupiers targeted the church in Jerusalem's Old City, engaging in acts of spitting and stone-throwing at its entrance.

According to Anadolu Agency, the governorate shared footage showing at least five Israeli occupiers spitting at the church before hurling stones at the building. Such incidents involving Jewish extremists spitting at churches in Jerusalem's Old City have been recurrent in recent months. The Palestinian Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs has documented at least 45 attacks by Israeli occupiers and army forces against Christians and their holy sites since the beginning of this year.

In another statement, the governorate highlighted a violent incident involving an Arab bus driver who was assaulted by a group of occupiers in East Jerusalem. The assault left the driver injured and necessitated his transfer to a hospital for medical attention. However, further details about the incident were not provided.

The escalation of attacks against Palestinians and their properties has been evident across the occupied West Bank since Israel initiated its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023. Official Palestinian figures indicate that at least 1,182 Palestinians have been killed, approximately 13,000 injured, and around 24,000 arrested in the occupied territory during this period.
