Rome: The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it has initiated strikes in southern Lebanon, attributing the action to what it termed a 'blatant violation' of the ceasefire by Hezbollah. This development comes as discussions between Beirut and Tel Aviv continue in Rome for the second consecutive day.

According to Anadolu Agency, the military operation was described as a series of precise strikes in response to alleged violations by Hezbollah. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement emphasizing the necessity of the strikes following what they claimed to be provocations from the Hezbollah organization.

Prior to the strikes, the Israeli army released an evacuation warning to residents of the southern Lebanese village of Mansouri. This marks the first evacuation warning in nearly six weeks. Lt. Col. Ella Waweya, the Israeli military's Arabic-language spokesperson, explained the warning was a direct response to Hezbollah's alleged breach of the ceasefire agreement, although specific details of the violations were not disclosed.

The ongoing talks in Rome represent the second day of the second round of negotiations facilitated by Italian hosts. Five previous rounds of discussions were conducted in Washington under a US-sponsored initiative to address the tensions between the involved parties.
