Ankara: The Israeli army launched 113 projectiles into southern Lebanon on Wednesday, marking the highest daily count since June 21, according to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, UNIFIL reported that although the level of violence is significantly lower than in previous months, the situation remains fragile. Peacekeepers are actively monitoring developments, reporting to the Security Council, and engaging with involved parties to help reduce tensions. UNIFIL emphasized the importance of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as well as continued dialogue and coordination, to de-escalate the situation and restore stability in southern Lebanon.

This announcement comes amid ongoing US-brokered discussions between Lebanon and Israel, which continued through Thursday, focusing on mechanisms for implementing the ceasefire agreement. Israel has maintained its military operations in Lebanon since March 2. As reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry, these attacks have resulted in 4,333 deaths and 12,250 injuries.

UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq informed reporters that UNIFIL has observed the "sharpest escalation" in military activity since the trilateral framework was announced in late June. Haq noted that UNIFIL did not detect any projectile launches by Hezbollah during this period. He also mentioned that the escalation persisted on Thursday, with UNIFIL recording 120 projectiles fired by Israel, surpassing Wednesday's count and marking the highest number since July 21.

Haq highlighted the existence of UN liaison mechanisms involving the military forces of Lebanon and Israel, stating, "We're coordinating with them to see what can be done to calm the situation down." He stressed that there must be no violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
