Nabatieh: Israeli artillery shelling targeted four villages in Lebanon's southern Nabatieh governorate early Sunday. This development comes just days after Beirut and Tel Aviv concluded a seventh round of US-sponsored talks in Rome, which aimed to end Israel's attacks and facilitate a withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that the area between the towns of Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah experienced intermittent artillery shelling. The shelling specifically targeted the Ali al-Taher hill on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, as well as the outskirts of Zawtar, Mayfadoun, and Doha Kfar Rumman. Details regarding casualties were not immediately available.

In a separate incident, the Israeli army conducted a large explosion in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah. Additionally, warplanes flew over the Bekaa Valley and Mount Lebanon, while drones were observed over the southern suburbs of Beirut, as reported by an Anadolu correspondent.

Despite the violence, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun noted "positive progress" in the Rome negotiations with Israel, which concluded on Thursday. The two nations had signed a US-mediated framework agreement on June 26, outlining a phased Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory. This agreement calls for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups, with a specific nod to Hezbollah.

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Israel's attacks in Lebanon persist, resulting in the death of 4,333 people, injuring 12,250 others, and displacing over 1 million individuals since March 2, according to official Lebanese figures.
