Manila: The effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones have impacted over 380,000 residents across eight regions in the Philippines, state media reported on Sunday. These weather conditions have severely affected the daily lives of thousands of families as they grapple with the aftermath.

According to Anadolu Agency, at least 382,000 people, or 110,000 families, have been affected by the recent enhanced southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay. The information was provided by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, highlighting the widespread impact of these environmental disturbances.

The death toll remains at six, with an additional seven individuals reported injured. The weather disturbances have also caused significant property damage, with 148 houses affected-138 partially and 10 completely destroyed.

The fatalities include two deaths from a landslide triggered by heavy rain, two from a rockslide, and the remaining two from drowning and electrocution, as indicated by official reports.

In response to the situation, the council has activated 86 evacuation centers, providing shelter for 2,200 families or 7,300 persons. An additional 1,132 families, or 3,700 persons, have sought refuge outside of the evacuation centers.
