Ramallah: The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the United States on Thursday to immediately intervene to stop Israeli actions aimed at annexing the occupied West Bank. In a recent statement, the ministry highlighted the use of occupiers as a 'tool' in implementing policies of forced displacement and annexation plans.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement further accused Israel of escalating occupiers' activities, using them as an unchecked instrument to enforce criminal policies such as vandalism, sieges, and forced displacement. These actions are seen as paving the way for the complete annexation of the West Bank. The ministry demanded accountability for those responsible for these actions.

The statement was issued amid ongoing besiegement by occupiers of three Palestinian homes in Qusra for the fourth consecutive day. This includes one home inhabited by a family with American citizenship. Tents set up around these homes have obstructed access, with Israeli forces deployed in the surrounding area.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry criticized the protection given by Israeli institutions to occupiers, accusing Israeli authorities of fostering an environment of impunity by disregarding crimes committed by occupiers. The ministry called for sanctions against occupiers and their supporters to protect Palestinians and halt the ongoing forced displacement.

The West Bank has seen an increase in attacks on Palestinians and their property since the war on the Gaza Strip began in October 2023. Currently, approximately 750,000 settlers live in 156 settlements and 360 outposts in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The United Nations regards Israeli settlement activity in these occupied territories as illegal under international law.
