Yemeni Forces Report Success in ‘Dawn of Yemen’ Operation Against Houthis

Taiz:Yemeni government forces have claimed significant progress in their 'Dawn of Yemen' operation, announcing that approximately 1,200 Houthi fighters have been neutralized in a series of intensified offensive operations on the eastern and southern fronts.

According to Anadolu Agency, military spokesman Brig. Gen. Majed Abdullah al-Nadhib detailed that government forces executed 2,200 strikes using various military assets, including warplanes, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers, and sniper units. The strikes targeted critical Houthi infrastructure such as command and control centers, fortifications, troop concentrations, and supply lines.

In the strategic area of Taiz, Yemeni forces focused their efforts on disrupting Houthi convoys and reinforcements, which has reportedly hindered the Houthis' ability to regroup. The initial estimates from the battlefield suggest that in addition to the neutralized fighters, over 440 military vehicles and pieces of equipment were destroyed or damaged.

The military's engineering units are actively involved in mine-clearing operations in recaptured regions on the western front, working to secure transportation routes and facilitate the safe return of civilians.

This military campaign is part of a larger escalation in Yemen, involving government forces supported by a Saudi-led coalition, against the Houthis. The 'Dawn of Yemen' operation, launched earlier this month, aims to reclaim areas under Houthi control and restore government authority. The conflict has intensified since the collapse of a truce in July, following years of Houthi control over the capital Sanaa and other regions since 2014. A Saudi-led coalition has been involved in the conflict since March 2015 in support of Yemen's internationally recognized government.
