US University Introduces Bachelor’s Degree in Content Creation to Prepare Future Influencers

Phoenix: Arizona State University has launched a new bachelor's degree in content creation for the 2026-27 academic year, aiming to equip students with skills required for careers in the expanding digital creator industry, including roles as social media influencers.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Bachelor of Arts program is offered through the university's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The curriculum focuses on content planning, video and podcast production, personal branding, social media strategy, and audience analytics. The 2026-27 academic year will feature a course titled 'How to Become an Influencer,' alongside classes on on-camera presentation, editing, videography, podcasting, and digital audiences.

Students enrolled in the program will also be required to complete a content-creation capstone and professional development courses. The university describes the program as preparation for the 'creator economy,' an industry centered around individuals and businesses producing and monetizing digital content.

Graduates of the program can pursue careers in digital influencing, brand development, content strategy, and audience engagement. Arizona State University offers this program in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as in Los Angeles and online, providing flexible learning options for students.

The introduction of Arizona State's program coincides with other US universities expanding their academic offerings related to the creator economy. Syracuse University is set to launch a minor in the field this fall, combining communications, business, and entrepreneurship courses. St. Bonaventure University, also in New York state, already offers a content creation major.
