France Condemns Israeli Minister’s Remarks on Gaza as ‘Unbearable and Inhumane’

Paris: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has strongly denounced the recent statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who advocated for the killing of dozens of people in Gaza every night. Barrot described these remarks as 'unbearable and inhumane' during an interview with the French newspaper La Montagne.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ben-Gvir made his controversial comments on a podcast broadcast on Saturday, where he called for 'targeted killings' to be conducted every night in Gaza, suggesting that 30 or 40 individuals should be killed. He further added that the people he referred to should not be alive, regardless of whether they currently pose a danger.

In the same interview, Ben-Gvir expressed support for the mass displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the reestablishment of Israeli settlements, which are deemed illegal under international law, in the region. He stated his belief that the entire Gaza Strip belongs to Israel.

In response to these statements, France has barred Ben-Gvir from entering the country. This move aligns with similar entry bans imposed by more than 10 other countries, including Belgium, Spain, Britain, Canada, and Australia. Additionally, Paris has maintained a ban on Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich since June 9, due to his promotion of annexing the occupied West Bank and advocating for the resettlement of Gaza.

Barrot emphasized the possibility of further sanctions against Israeli occupiers for their recent actions in the West Bank. He mentioned that European sanctions had been imposed against these settlers for the third time on May 28 and affirmed that additional measures could be considered, with all options remaining on the table.
