Oslo: The Norwegian government has announced plans to restrict the purchase of buses from countries with which Norway lacks security policy cooperation, including China. This move, reported by public broadcaster NRK, is driven by concerns about potential national security risks.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Transport Ministry unveiled the proposal, highlighting that the increasing number of buses from these countries on Norwegian roads may heighten national security risks. Transport and Communications Minister Jon-Ivar Nygard emphasized the importance of safeguarding national security interests, particularly in the current global climate.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has projected that, if current trends continue, buses from China could constitute 60% of Norway's bus fleet by 2033. This projection underscores the urgency of the government's proposal to limit such imports.
