Yemeni Forces Intercept Houthi Drone and Neutralize Bomb-Laden Boat

Sanaa: Yemeni government-aligned forces reported on Saturday that they successfully intercepted a Houthi drone near the Saudi border and neutralized a bomb-laden boat in the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.

According to Anadolu Agency, the 3rd Division of Yemen's Emergency Forces utilized air defenses to intercept the drone as it neared the Al-Wadiah border area in Hadhramaut province. The drone was reportedly targeting areas inhabited by residents and displaced individuals before being remotely engaged by air defense units. The interception was accomplished without any casualties or damage.

The Emergency Forces stated that they remain vigilant in safeguarding the region and countering any threats to the security and stability of the border areas. Al-Wadiah serves as Yemen's primary land crossing with Saudi Arabia.

In a separate operation, the National Resistance Forces, aligned with the Yemeni government, announced that their naval units destroyed a Houthi bomb-laden boat in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The 2 December news portal was cited for this information, though additional details were not provided.

The Yemeni army also reported the death of Yahya al-Warqi, a military commander, during clashes with Houthi fighters, though specifics about the time and location were not disclosed. The Houthis have not issued any comments regarding these incidents.

The National Resistance Forces, led by Tareq Saleh of the Presidential Leadership Council, are based in Mocha and operate along Yemen's western coast in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah provinces. Yemen has been in turmoil since the Houthis seized control of Sanaa and other provinces in 2014, which led to a Saudi-led coalition's intervention in support of the internationally recognized government in 2015.
