Ankara: The Palestinian representative addressed the UN Security Council, emphasizing that Israel has taken irreversible steps toward full-scale annexation, which he believes jeopardizes regional peace prospects. Riyad Mansour, the permanent observer of Palestine to the UN, highlighted the detrimental impact of Israeli actions on peace efforts in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Mansour criticized Israel's release of bidding tenders for the E1 area, which aims to connect East Jerusalem with the occupied West Bank. He described this as a direct "act of war" against Palestinian sovereignty and territorial integrity. He accused the Israeli government of deliberately undermining the 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, which is encapsulated in a relevant UN Resolution, and accused the leadership in Tel Aviv of attempting to "derail" the implementation of a plan that rejects annexation.

Mansour argued that resolving the regional crisis by eliminating the Palestinian national project is unreasonable. He dismissed Israeli legal processes as ineffective, claiming they are designed to perpetuate impunity rather than deliver justice for victims. He called for immediate international protection for the Palestinian people until a sovereign and independent state is established.

Mansour concluded by envisioning a Middle East where sovereign states coexist in peace, security, and prosperity. He urged the Security Council to act in accordance with agreed laws to prevent current tragedies from leading to future horrors, emphasizing the possibility of a different future through collective action.
