Ankara: The Turkish Grand Prix is set to make a significant comeback to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar starting in the 2027 season, as confirmed by the Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The announcement came following a meeting at the Ataturk Cultural Center in Istanbul, where Ersoy and Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak discussed extensive preparations for the event.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Grand Prix will be hosted at Istanbul Park under a five-year agreement, ensuring races continue through the 2031 season. This agreement marks a notable return of Formula 1 to the city, with a focus on leveraging Trkiye's experience in hosting international events to create an exciting Formula 1 experience.

The meeting in Istanbul was attended by several key figures, including Timucin Guler, Director General of Promotion at the Culture and Tourism Ministry; Sinan Seha Turkseven, Director General of the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency; and Veli Ozan Cakir, Director General of Sports Services at the Youth and Sports Ministry. Other notable attendees included Spor Toto Organization President Mehmet Ata Ozturk and Suleyman Sahin, Director General of Investments and Operations at the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Top officials from the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, including President Eren Uclertopragi and Secretary-General Serhan Acar, also participated. The gathering focused on ensuring the Turkish Grand Prix is organized to the highest standards, with discussions on institutional responsibilities, coordination, and promotional activities for the race.

This strategic move to bring Formula 1 back to Istanbul Park from 2027 to 2031 further cements Trkiye's reputation as a host of international sporting events. Having previously hosted races from 2005 to 2011 and in 2020 and 2021, the return of Formula 1 is anticipated to enhance Istanbul's global profile and contribute to the city's international appeal.
