Tehran: Iran on Thursday dismissed reports of an alleged Iranian plot targeting US President Donald Trump's son, labeling them as 'fabricated propaganda,' according to Iran's ISNA news agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei referred to the allegations as 'Netanyahu's tricks,' pointing towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rezaei stated, 'The claim that there is a plot against Trump's son is nothing but a big lie designed by Netanyahu to deceive and frighten the US president.'

These remarks followed an incident where Iran's state broadcaster aired an AI-generated video that included information about Barron Trump, the US president's youngest son, and his movements in New York. The video, shown on Iran's Channel 3, was widely perceived as a threat against Barron Trump, suggesting a possible assassination attempt.

The tensions between Tehran and Washington have been escalating since the conflict ignited with US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. Iran retaliated by targeting US military positions and assets in Arab countries that are allies of Washington.

Both nations attempted to ease hostilities by signing a 14-point memorandum of understanding in Islamabad on June 18, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar. However, the implementation of this agreement has encountered obstacles, with Tehran accusing Washington of not fulfilling its commitments. The situation worsened when the US resumed military attacks on Iran in July, leading to further retaliatory strikes by Iran.
