Tashkent: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Uzbekistan on Saturday for a two-day state visit, during which he is scheduled to engage in discussions with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Uzbek presidency announced that Modi was welcomed by Mirziyoyev and a guard of honor upon his arrival at Tashkent-Khumo International Airport. Following the welcoming ceremony, both leaders visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Park in the capital, where they paid their respects by laying flowers at the Independence Monument.

Modi's visit to Uzbekistan comes just before a two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, which begins on Monday. The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the organization and will see participation from various member states, including India, with Modi representing the country.
