Kyiv: Ukraine announced on Saturday that 37 individuals were killed in a Russian drone strike on a warehouse near Kyiv. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, initially reported 27 deaths and 42 injuries, including four children, in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region but did not specify the exact location.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tkachenko later updated the death toll to 37 and noted that approximately 50 residential buildings sustained varying degrees of damage. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed on the US social media platform X that a drone strike hit a warehouse in the village of Myla, resulting in an explosion on Friday evening that also affected nearby infrastructure.
Among the deceased was Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivka rural community. Zelenskyy stated that over 370 people have been evacuated, with evacuations ongoing. He emphasized the need to hold accountable those responsible for allowing the incident to occur. Zelenskyy mentioned that criminal proceedings had been initiated on charges of official negligence, highlighting that ammunition should not be stored near residential areas. He assured that Russia will face consequences for its actions.
Separately, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a two-year-old girl was killed and five others were injured after a Russian drone fell in the capital's Obolonskyi district. Ukraine's Air Force claimed to have shot down 233 out of 267 drones launched by Russia overnight and reported the launch of an Onyx cruise missile and an Iskander-M ballistic missile, without providing further details.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces targeted logistics centers in Kyiv and the surrounding region, allegedly hitting an ammunition depot in Myla belonging to Ukrainian defense technology company Fire Point. The depot reportedly stored components and boosters for FP-1/FP-2 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition to the strikes near Kyiv, Russia claimed to have attacked facilities in the ports of Izmail and Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine. Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported one casualty and three injuries following strikes in the Odesa region, with five grain trucks destroyed and three more damaged by fire. The fire was later extinguished.
Acting Mykolaiv Governor Heorhii Reshetilov reported damage to energy facilities, leaving over 300,000 subscribers without electricity. Independent verification of these claims remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict. Both Moscow and Kyiv have intensified attacks on each other's logistics centers and infrastructure, with both sides denying targeting civilian facilities and asserting that their strikes are aimed at military targets.
