Eilat: The Israeli army announced on Sunday its plans to initiate a large-scale military exercise in the Red Sea city of Eilat and the Arava Valley along the Jordanian border. This exercise, set to begin on Monday, aims to simulate a surprise attack scenario.

According to Anadolu Agency, the exercise will be spearheaded by the Israeli army's 80th Division. The military has indicated that there will be noticeable movements of security forces, aircraft, and naval vessels in the region starting from Sunday. The training will encompass a variety of scenarios such as surprise attacks and potential infiltrations into Israeli territory via air, sea, and land.

While the duration of the exercise remains unspecified, the army mentioned that the drills will be conducted "over the coming days." The primary objectives are to test the defense mechanisms of Israeli communities near the Jordanian border and the Eilat area, enhance troop readiness, and utilize aerial and naval capabilities to fortify the region's defense.

The military emphasized that this exercise is part of a continuous effort to bolster readiness and competency, as well as to assess lessons learned from past combat and security incidents. This drill follows a recent exercise in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights that aimed to improve preparedness for unexpected and complex attacks.

There have been growing concerns about potential infiltrations across Israel's eastern border in recent months. In June, Israeli military sources reported thwarting an attempted maritime infiltration into Eilat's hotel area. During the incident, Israeli forces fired warning shots at an individual on a jet ski approaching from the Jordanian border.
