Quneitra: Israeli forces shelled the countryside of Syria's southern Quneitra province on Sunday. According to Alikhbariah TV, the Israeli forces fired an artillery shell in the vicinity of Al-Samdaniya Al-Sharqiya village in the central Quneitra countryside. No casualties or damage were immediately reported from this shelling.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli forces fired another artillery shell at agricultural land west of Al-Mashaala village in the northern Quneitra countryside, resulting in the death of several sheep grazing in the area. These attacks occurred just a day after Israeli forces fired six artillery shells on the outskirts of Al-Rafid town in southern Quneitra. An Israeli force, comprising five military vehicles, also advanced into the outskirts of the town before withdrawing without making any arrests.

In recent days, the region has seen multiple incidents involving Israeli forces. On Thursday, they fired two artillery shells toward the vicinity of eastern Tal al-Ahmar in southern Quneitra. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Israeli forces detained a shepherd west of Al-Rafid, only to release him hours later. The southern regions of Syria, particularly Quneitra and Daraa provinces, have been the site of frequent Israeli incursions and attacks, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints.

Israel has maintained control over most of the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967. Following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime on December 8, 2024, Israel declared the 1974 Disengagement Agreement collapsed, taking control of the demilitarized buffer zone and other strategic positions, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh).

On July 26, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stated that Damascus was collaborating with other countries to reach a security agreement with Israel. He emphasized that while such an agreement could pave the way for comprehensive peace, Syria would not relinquish its claim to the occupied Golan Heights.
