Washington: US President Donald Trump announced plans to sue a think tank following their report questioning the effectiveness of his policies in curbing violent crime. The report, released by the Center for American Progress, criticized Trump's deployment of the National Guard to several US cities, stating it had no measurable impact on reducing violent crime.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump responded to the report through a statement on his Truth Social platform, labeling it a 'Radical Left SCAM' and declaring his intention to pursue legal action. He further criticized the think tank's contributors, including prominent figures and companies, and suggested they might also face legal consequences. In his statement, Trump insisted that crime rates had decreased since he took office and accused the report's authors of dishonesty.

The report, published on July 13, argued that the Trump administration's claims of reducing violent crime were unsubstantiated, noting that the decline began before his presidency. The think tank defended its findings, with its president, Neera Tanden, asserting the research was based on rigorous analysis and dismissing the lawsuit threat as unfounded. The Center for American Progress pledged to stand by its work despite the legal threats from Trump.
