Yemeni Army Reclaims Al-Yatmah Area From Houthi Control

Sanaa: The Yemeni army announced that it has successfully recaptured the Al-Yatmah area in the Al-Jawf province in northern Yemen from Houthi forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, the army released a statement confirming the liberation of Al-Yatmah in the Khabb wa Al-Shaaf district from the control of Houthi militias. The army highlighted ongoing advancements against the Houthis but did not elaborate on the specifics of these developments. The Houthi group has yet to comment on the situation.

Al-Yatmah holds strategic significance as it is situated in the Al-Jawf province near the Saudi border. This area is adjacent to the oil-rich Marib province, a vital stronghold for Yemen's internationally recognized government.

Recent days have seen an escalation in military confrontations between Yemeni government forces and Houthi fighters across various fronts, including Taiz, Al-Jawf, and Al-Bayda provinces. These clashes have been accompanied by airstrikes targeting Houthi positions.

Yemen's conflict has persisted since the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces in September 2014. This prompted a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
