Trkiye’s Havelsan and Egyptian AOI Seal Sales Deal for Jointly Developed Drone

El alamein: Turkish Havelsan and Egyptian Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) have inked a deal to commence sales of their collaboratively developed Hamza-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The agreement was finalized at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the two companies.

According to Anadolu Agency, the deal follows a cooperation agreement signed in August 2025, which laid the groundwork for manufacturing vertical takeoff and landing drones in Egypt. The collaboration integrates Havelsan's expertise in autonomous systems engineering with AOI's localized manufacturing capabilities to create the Hamza-1 platform.

Havelsan leveraged its technological proficiency drawn from its domestic drone platforms, such as the Baha, Bozbey, Poyraz, and Bulut drones, in developing the Hamza-1. The initial prototype was unveiled at the EDEX defense expo in Cairo late last year.

The partnership aims to deliver the Hamza-1 drone to end-users following the newly signed commercial deal. This successful commercialization underscores the growing defense cooperation between Trkiye and Egypt, as well as Havelsan's global co-production strategy.
