Beirut: Israeli forces carried out artillery strikes and explosions in several areas of southern Lebanon overnight and early Thursday, despite a US-mediated deal aimed at ending the fighting and disarming Hezbollah, Lebanon's official National News Agency reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli artillery shelling overnight and at dawn targeted Wadi al-Hujeir and Wadi al-Saluki, while explosions were also heard in the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district. Israeli aircraft carried out an airstrike on Mansouri, coinciding with an explosion in the town. In the Nabatieh district, artillery fire targeted the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah toward Mayfadoun.

Israeli forces also executed a 'very large' explosion in the town of Bani Hayyan, Marjayoun district. The Lebanese army reported Wednesday that Israeli forces had violated the agreement approximately 7,700 times since it was signed in June, including firing near army personnel and patrols.

Israel continues to occupy areas of southern Lebanon, including territory it has held for decades and other areas occupied during the 2023-2024 conflict. Its forces have advanced more than 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into Lebanese territory during the current conflict.
