Ankara: The US defeated Spain 76-66 on Saturday to reach the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup final after pulling away in the fourth quarter of a closely contested semifinal. Playing in Berlin, Spain made the stronger start, opening a 13-6 lead before the four-time defending champions recovered to take a 21-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

According to Anadolu Agency, the US remained ahead through the second period and went into halftime leading 39-36. Spain responded after the break, erasing a six-point deficit to level the game at 58-58 heading into the final quarter. After Spain cut the deficit to 62-60, the US produced a decisive 8-0 run to open a 70-60 lead with 5:20 remaining. The Americans controlled the closing minutes to complete the 10-point victory and advance to the title game.

Breanna Stewart led the US with 16 points and five rebounds. Kahleah Copper added 13 points and Jackie Young racked up 12. Caitlin Clark finished with one point as the Americans relied on balanced scoring to overcome Spain. Iyana Martin and Maria Conde led Spain with 17 points each.

The US will face France in Sunday's final in Berlin in a rematch of the 2024 Olympic gold medal game. France defeated hosts Germany 86-64 to reach the final for the first time in their history. Spain will face Germany in Sunday's third-place game.
