Ankara: Iraq's Security Media Cell chief, Saad Maan, announced on Saturday that Iraqi authorities successfully seized a drone-launching platform within Iraqi territory, which had been used in an attack targeting an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia. According to Anadolu Agency, Maan stated in a declaration carried by the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) that an intelligence and security task force made considerable efforts to locate and confiscate the launch platform. The operation involved forensic experts and technical documentation to thoroughly examine and analyze the situation, aiming not only to seize the platform but also to identify those responsible through ongoing intensive field and intelligence efforts. Communication between Baghdad and Riyadh is ongoing at multiple levels to exchange intelligence and security information, Maan added. Earlier on Saturday, Iraqi army spokesman Sabah al-Numan emphasized the continued pursuit operations by security and intelligence agencies to arrest all individuals i nvolved in the attacks on Saudi Arabia. INA further reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has approved an Iranian request for a joint investigation after drone launch platforms were discovered near the border between Iraq and Iran. These developments follow Saudi Arabia's announcement on Friday that several drones launched from Iraq had struck the East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions, resulting in injuries and material damage. The Saudi Foreign Ministry has stated that the kingdom will not respond at this stage following the Iraqi prime minister's request for time to implement measures to prevent Iraqi territory from being used for attacks against Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries.
