Bayern munich: Bayern Munich survived a strong challenge from newly promoted Elversberg to claim a 2-1 away victory in the third matchday of the Bundesliga season. Lennart Karl opened the scoring for Bayern in the first half before Maurice Krattenmacher equalized with a long-range strike after the break, but Harry Kane struck the winner in the 72nd minute.
According to Anadolu Agency, Elversberg, who had won their opening two Bundesliga matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, threatened early as Bayern struggled to take control. The hosts went close in the 17th minute when a cross from Lukas Petkov deflected off Bayern defender Kim Min-jae's thigh and narrowly missed the post.
Bayern broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. Ismael Saibari drove down the left and sent a ball across goal that went through Kane's legs before Karl swept it home at the back post. Elversberg thought they had equalized shortly before halftime when Cole Campbell raced clear and fired past Jonas Urbig, but the goal was ruled out for offside against Noah Darvich following a VAR check.
Bayern then had a goal of their own disallowed on the hour mark when Michael Olise released Kane, who finished past Nicolas Kristof but was ruled offside. A minute later, Elversberg drew level when Darvich collected a loose ball and found substitute Krattenmacher, who fired into the top-right corner from around 30 yards to make it 1-1.
Bayern responded by increasing the pressure. Luis Diaz passed up a promising opportunity before Michael Olise had an effort blocked near the goal line and then struck the crossbar with a chip in the 71st minute. The visitors regained the lead a minute later when Aleksandar Pavlovic found Kane inside the penalty area and the England captain powered his finish into the top-right corner.
The goal was Kane's first in the Bundesliga this season and his 99th for Bayern Munich in all competitions. Kane nearly reached the 100-goal milestone five minutes later, but Lukasz Poreba produced a sliding block to deny the Bayern striker. Elversberg also had an opportunity to respond shortly after Bayern's second goal, but substitute Noel Futkeu sent his effort wide.
Bayern held on to move to seven points from their opening three Bundesliga matches, while Elversberg remained on six points after suffering their first defeat of the season.
