Moscow: Russia has expressed support for US President Donald Trump's proposal for an energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv, signaling potential diplomatic engagement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced at a press briefing that Russia is in communication with Washington regarding the initiative, describing it as a positive step.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov highlighted that while an energy truce and securing the operation of oil refineries are constructive measures, they do not address the fundamental issues impacting global oil markets. He pointed out that the core problem lies in the export of petroleum products worldwide.

Peskov further elaborated on Russia's internal efforts, stating that comprehensive measures are in place to safeguard refineries and other energy facilities, and the domestic market is nearing full saturation. However, he emphasized the necessity of lifting sanctions on energy supplies to enhance global market availability and reduce prices.

The Kremlin spokesman underscored the importance of safe commercial navigation for oil tankers, noting that Kyiv's reluctance to provide guarantees has impacted Russian and international vessels, resulting in casualties involving individuals of multiple nationalities.

Regarding potential resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe, Peskov mentioned that Moscow would consider it if economic conditions are favorable and sufficient supply volumes exist. He refrained from commenting on reports of a Danish military helicopter incident involving a Russian frigate, citing a lack of details.

In response to US Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink's assertion about orbital weapons, Peskov reiterated Russia's stance against the weaponization of space, advocating for international support for its demilitarization, affirming the belief that space should remain weapon-free.
