Charleroi: A planned nighttime strike by air traffic controllers at Belgium's Charleroi Airport is expected to disrupt 832 flights and affect up to 300,000 passengers, authorities said Tuesday. The strike, announced by an air traffic controllers' union, is scheduled to take place for 24 nights from Sept. 16 through Oct. 10, according to French-language broadcaster RTBF.

According to Anadolu Agency, Belgian air navigation services provider Skeyes stated that the industrial action is expected to affect 832 flight movements, including 487 morning flights and 345 night flights. "At this stage, it is not yet possible to fully assess the additional impact of these actions on the rotation schedules of the airlines concerned," said Skeyes. "When aircraft cannot return to Charleroi overnight, this can also have consequences for the first flights they are scheduled to operate from Charleroi the following morning."

Walloon Minister for Airports Cecile Neven noted that the action could "directly impact Charleroi Airport, its partners, and up to 300,000 passengers." The airport mentioned that the strike could affect up to 300,000 passengers, or slightly more than 5,500 passengers per day.
