Moscow: Moscow and Kyiv exchanged overnight strikes Friday, killing 2 and injuring more than 20 others on both sides.
According to Anadolu Agency, in Ukraine, one person was killed, and seven others were injured as Russia struck an electric train in the Kharkiv region, as reported by Gov. Oleg Synegubov on Telegram. In Kyiv, five people, including three children, were injured in a Russian drone attack, according to Timur Tkachenko, head of the city's military administration. One private house was destroyed and another damaged.
Further incidents in the Kharkiv region resulted in injuries to three people and damage to residential properties, outbuildings, and a vehicle, as stated by the regional prosecutor's office. A Russian strike also targeted a shopping center in Zaporizhzhia, injuring one person and causing a fire, which was later extinguished by rescuers, Ukraine's Interior Ministry reported. In the Odesa region, Gov. Oleh Kiper described a 'massive attack' by Russian forces that injured three people and damaged various civilian infrastructures.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that its air defenses managed to shoot down or suppress 69 Russian drones, including Banderol and Dan-T drones.
In Russia, Gov. Aleksander Hinshtein reported that one person was killed and three others injured due to a Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin mentioned on Telegram that over 350 Ukrainian drones were headed toward the Moscow region, with many destroyed at a distance and 64 intercepted near the capital. In the Rostov region, fallen drone debris damaged apartment buildings and private cars, according to regional Gov. Yury Slyusar on Telegram.
Russia's Defense Ministry announced the interception and destruction of 629 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian territory, annexed Crimea, and the Azov and Black Sea. Concurrently, Russians began voting in a three-day election to select 450 members of the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, alongside regional and local elections. This vote will determine the ninth convocation of the State Duma and is the first national parliamentary election in Russia since the war in Ukraine began in February 2022.
