Paris: French-Palestinian European Parliament member Rima Hassan has filed a complaint against French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez with the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR), alleging he breached the secrecy of an investigation against her. Hassan, through her lawyer Vincent Brengarth, has taken this legal step, emphasizing the seriousness of the alleged breach.

According to Anadolu Agency, the complaint was filed on Friday, with Brengarth explaining to reporters that they are seeking an examination of the alleged secrecy breach. He expressed confidence that the CJR would open an investigation into the matter. The lawyer highlighted that two French media outlets reported that Nunez, along with Sacha Straub-Kahn, a spokesperson for the French Justice Ministry, had leaked sensitive information pertaining to the investigation.

Brengarth emphasized the need to determine the legal basis on which Nunez accessed the investigation details and whether he shared any additional information with the press. This complaint follows investigative reports by Mediapart, which alleged that Paris judicial police officers had been monitoring Hassan's phone activity and tracking her movements since January 1. This surveillance reportedly occurred even before a formal investigation was launched.

The Mediapart report detailed that investigators utilized geolocation data and obtained information from transport operators, such as France's national railway company SNCF and the international rail service Thalys. They also reportedly accessed data from her phone provider to trace her travel history and connections. Hassan's legal troubles began in April when she was detained on allegations of "terrorist propaganda" after sharing social media statements by Kozo Okamoto, a former Japanese Red Army member known for his support of Palestine.
