Beirut: Israeli warplanes launched fresh airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday, amid ongoing violations of a US-mediated framework agreement, state news agency NNA reported. The strikes hit the Old Square neighborhood in the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, with a third strike targeting an ambulance team en route to the attack site. Information on injuries was not immediately available.

According to Anadolu Agency, these strikes occurred despite the US-sponsored framework agreement signed on June 26, which stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army. Since early March, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in nearly 4,400 fatalities and over 12,300 injuries, displacing more than 1 million people, as reported by Lebanese authorities.

Israel continues to occupy areas of southern Lebanon, including territories held for decades and those occupied during the 2023-2024 conflict. Its forces have advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current conflict, further complicating the situation on the ground.
