New York:Iran's foreign minister accused European countries of using double standards in their approach to recent regional developments during meetings with several European counterparts at the UN General Assembly.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abbas Araghchi made these remarks while meeting with the foreign ministers of France, the Netherlands, and Austria, as well as with his Iraqi and Azerbaijani counterparts. These discussions were held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The discussions covered a range of topics including bilateral relations, regional and international developments, tensions between Iran and the US, and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi attributed insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz to the aggressive actions of the US and Israel, asserting that restoring security is contingent upon Washington ceasing actions that cause insecurity.

Araghchi criticized European countries for their silence or support of military aggression against Iran, despite their claims of defending the rule of law and human rights. He urged all countries, especially European ones, to end support for Israel and work to prevent its impunity.

Tehran claims that a war launched by the US and Israel on February 28 has resulted in thousands of deaths. In response, Iran conducted missile and drone attacks across the region and effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for energy supplies.
